2006 Arts Festival
The bi-annual Arts Festival was a great success! Congratulations to all the teachers and students who worked with energy and enthusiasm to get the project off the ground. Special thanks to Lori Litvack for coordinating the numerous events that made this year's Festival so delightful. Visit the Photo Gallery for a close-up look at the week's events.
Highlights
The senior drama production, After Juliet, opened the event with style; the actors did a great job bringing life to the Sharman Macdonald play. Drawing on both Shakespearean and contemporary elements, where sword fighting and graffiti art share the same stage, Traf's production of After Juliet explored the timeless themes of peace, war, love and revenge.
The African Drumming and Break Dancing workshops were a great treat for students and staff alike. It was hard not to get caught up in the beat; students were lining up to try their hand at the percussive instruments and twist their torsos in an attempt to "freestyle".
The Spring Concert & Vernissage gave parents a good sense of the wide range of artistic talents here at Traf. The band and choir were brilliant, the artwork was stunning and the short short stories were captivating.
The Mini-Cabarets were a new addition this year and a great way to showcase even more Traf talent. The senior French class music videos were very creative, and the interpretive reading and singing were also good fun.
This year's True Colours dance extravaganza closed the Arts Fest with a bang. The audience was fired up to see Traf students and teachers strut their stuff on the dance floor. While the dance styles ranged from Indian to Hip Hop, Tap to Japanese, the performances that night were all incredibly impressive! Special thanks to all the Traf Old Girls who came back to choreograph the many dance numbers!
