Spring Concert Highlights
Family and friends joined together Wednesday, May 20 for Trafalgar's
Annual Spring Concert. The event was the culmination of a wonderful
year of musical accomplishments for Traf's musicians. As participants
in MusicFest Quebec, Traf's Junior Band received a Bronze medal, the
Senior Band a Silver medal and the Choir a Gold medal.
The concert included performances by all music students from Form I to
Form V. Led by Sheila Macleod, the Form I Band played a mix of pieces ranging from Polly Wolly Doodle to Queen's We Will Rock You. The Junior Band, composed of Form II students and led by Mr. Rosenhek, began with Mozart Alleluia and ended with Syncopated Rock.
Ms. Macleod returned with the Senior Band (composed of Form III through
V students who have chosen Band as an elective) and led a wide ranging
repertoire. Music from Get Smart, Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean filled the gymnasium as did Dvorak's Slavonic Rhapsody.
The a cappella Choir performed throughout the concert, beginning with the upbeat Jason Mraz song I'm Yours. The soulful Billy Joel composition And So It Goes was then offset by the intricate rhythms of Kenya Melodies. And although their last piece was One Voice, it included all members of the choir (from Forms I through V).
Congratulations to all choir and band members and to those students who
had solo parts in the performances. Parents of graduating students
found the concert bitter-sweet as it was the last time their daughters
will perform as Traf musicians.
