A keen group of parents gathered at the school on October 28th to hear Amy Fish share her wit and wisdom about lessons learned both as a parent, and as Ombudsperson at Concordia University. In both roles,
Amy has seen first-hand what happens when adults step in to speak for their child, rather than supporting them in learning to speak and stand up for themselves.
Through provocative questions and telling anecdotes (many drawn from her new book, I Wanted Fries with That: How to Ask for What You Want, and Get What You Need) Amy pushed the audience to reflect on their own choices, and to consider what “helping” their child might really mean. Food (perhaps fries) for thought.
