At Trafalgar, learning doesn’t stop when the lesson ends—it continues to unfold in the quiet hum of a library desk, in the thoughtful conversation with a teacher, or in the rhythm of a rehearsal room. This is the spirit behind Forum Periods—a dedicated time built into the school day for exploration, collaboration, support, and creativity.
Whether it’s catching up on homework, joining a club, or asking a teacher that one lingering question from class, Forum Periods are where Traf students take charge of their learning journeys.

Mondays & Fridays: Quiet Focus, Open Doors
After lunch, from 12:55 to 1:40 p.m., classrooms become spaces of support, where every teacher is available for extra help. Maybe it’s math that needs a second look, or a French essay that could use one more revision—this is the moment to ask. The library offers a peaceful place to concentrate, while the cafeteria provides a collaborative space for group projects. These are times for productivity, reflection, and focus.

Whether you're rehearsing with Drama Club, organizing with Student Council, or brainstorming for the Yearbook, this is when passion projects thrive.
Some teachers remain available during these times too, so help is always close at hand. And when a special event, assembly, or school-wide initiative is scheduled, the Forum Period becomes a vital part of our community rhythm—attendance is required.

The Philosophy Behind Forum
One of our Head of School’s first memories of learning comes from when she was four and tried to call her grandmother on a rotary phone. It took dozens of attempts to get the number right, but she learned something even more important: patience, persistence, and practice are part of every learning journey.
That same idea is at the heart of Forum Periods at Trafalgar. These times aren’t just for catching up on homework or joining a club. They give students space to explore, reflect, and develop a growth mindset—the understanding that skills and intelligence can grow with effort. Forum also helps students see how learning works in the brain, giving them the tools to take charge of their learning and build confidence.
Research shows that girls are more likely than boys to doubt their abilities, especially in math and science. By encouraging a growth mindset, Forum Periods help students stay engaged, overcome challenges, and succeed academically while developing habits that extend far beyond the classroom.
