  • SUSTAINABLE LEADERSHIP FORUM

Five students from Secondary II and IV - Emily P, Lena A, Kara S, Rachel O, and Tatiana R - traveled to WIC this past Monday to attend the Climate Leadership Forum, co-hosted by QAIS and an organization called Learning for a Sustainable Future. The students worked with peers from other QAIS schools to discuss challenges they see in their communities. They then met with their school group and brainsormed projects that could solve their challenges in a positive and sustainable way. The group was given $500 as seed money to develop their ideas. The participating students will meet with their teachers to further their ideas and eventually, launch a Traf-grown project that will make our community more sustainable.

The prepared resolution was: Be it resolved that Canada should become the 51st state. It was an exciting learning opportunity for our students and they received valuable feedback from a variety of judges (coaches and more veteran debaters included). Well done!
