Supporting Every Learner

Our small class sizes and personalized attention mean that students are supported at every stage of their academic development. Teachers act as facilitators and mentors, guiding each student on her individual path—whether they need extra support or are ready to be challenged at an advanced level.

Starting high school comes with all kinds of new responsibilities and exciting challenges. Staying organized, managing deadlines and navigating big emotions can add to the pressure. At Trafalgar, we want the best start for all of our students, so we created a unique class for our Junior school. JAHM Sessions grew out of an understanding that study skills and executive functioning need to be taught and practiced in authentic ways. What has grown over the years is a dynamic two-year course that explicitly develops time and resource management, note-taking and test-taking skills, and strategies to keep students on top of their tasks. In alternating years, the focus is on emotional regulation skills, interpersonal communication and personal goal setting. Adolescence is a key stage of human development, and at Trafalgar, our juniors are set up for academic and personal success. support their overall well-being.
Support:

Each student is given the opportunity to explore her learning style and strengths while addressing areas where she may require additional support. Whether it be in planning for a successful experience at Trafalgar or beyond, our students are given individualized attention and are empowered to develop their own success plans. This philosophy ensures they have ownership of their learning and go on to pursue their true passions.
